Basketball Game Preview: Priest River Spartans vs. Kellogg Wildcats

Priest River hasn't had much luck against Kellogg recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Priest River Spartans will welcome the Kellogg Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. Priest River is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Priest River took a blow against Bonners Ferry, falling 86-38. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Badgers are ranked fourth).

The losing side was boosted by Palmer Coleman, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 15 points. Those 15 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Stiffel, who posted four points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kellogg, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Wallace with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 56-41.

Kellogg's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. As for Priest River, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.

Priest River was able to grind out a solid win over Kellogg in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 50-43. Will Priest River repeat their success, or does Kellogg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
