With a playoff win on the line, Oakdale rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Wootton Patriots as they made off with a 52-31 win. Oakdale has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why Wootton lost, don't look at Maya Bellamy. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Bellamy also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Wootton is 6-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 5-12 otherwise.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Oakdale, bringing their record for this year to 24-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points on average over those games. As for Wootton, they moved to 11-13 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Oakdale will square off against South River on Tuesday. South River will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Oakdale surely won't give up without a fight. Wootton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
