Softball Recap: Basic Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Basic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Boulder City Eagles 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since April 15, 2025.

Mia Frias made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, Mercedes Escarcega was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Aubrey Kilar was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Basic's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-17. As for Boulder City, they moved to 11-14 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Basic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Boulder City, they will face off against Moapa Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
