Softball Recap: Jurupa Hills Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Jurupa Hills made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Heritage, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Jurupa Hills put the hurt on Heritage with a sharp 15-5 victory on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won four games in a row.

Ivy Newcomb looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jaylin Olguin was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 5-for-5. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Ibarra, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Jurupa Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Jurupa Hills pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Jurupa Hills and Heritage could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Jurupa Hills (ranked 403rd) will meet Camarillo (ranked 14th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Heritage will face off against Paloma Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Monday down 606 places (743 vs. 137).
