Baseball Recap: Dexter Has No Trouble Against Skyline

Dexter lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Skyline, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Dreadnaughts were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Eagles on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Dreadnaughts: when they faced off against the Eagles on Monday, they had to take a 9-7 defeat.

Jack Sayler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since April 7th.

In other batting news, Chance Sobbry and Brady Arbaugh did most of the damage at the plate: Sobbry got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Arbaugh went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Arbaugh is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Noah Fernando was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Dexter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Dexter's record now sits at 14-6. As for Skyline, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dexter will face off against Adrian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dreadnaughts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Maples have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Skyline, they will square off against Lake Orion at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
