Mylee Mitchell made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 20 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Mitchell wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Helsel, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Claysburg-Kimmel made easy work of Mount Union on Tuesday and carried off an 11-3 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by seven runs or more this season.
Payton Hinish was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaylee Swindell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Claysburg-Kimmel lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Union didn't launched any home runs.
Claysburg-Kimmel pushed their record up to 17-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Northern Bedford County, their record is now 9-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Northern Bedford County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Claysburg-Kimmel struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Northern Bedford County might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Claysburg-Kimmel in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
