Basketball Recap: Columbia's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Columbia's game on Friday was all tied up 31-31 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against the Black River Pirates by a score of 62-52. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 85-53 back in December of 2024.

Black River's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Varney, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Parker Broadsword, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points.

Columbia's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6. As for Black River, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Columbia has already played their next contest, a 63-41 win against North Olmsted on the 18th. Black River has also already played their next game (against Cloverleaf), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
