Baseball Recap: Christ School Has No Trouble Against Asheville Christian Academy

The matchup between Christ School and Asheville Christian Academy on Wednesday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Greenies blew past the Lions 20-0. With that victory, the Greenies brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Garin Gosnell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Christ School is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-9-1 otherwise. Gosnell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Corbin Spillards was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Will Ray, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Christ School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Christ School's record now sits at 5-10-1. As for Asheville Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christ School will venture away from home to challenge SouthLake Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Greenies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Asheville Christian Academy, they will head out to take on Southside Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
