Basketball Game Preview: Tucker Tigers vs. Jonesboro Cardinals

Tucker is 0-5 against Jonesboro since December of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Cardinals. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Tucker sitting on six straight victories and Jonesboro on five.

Tucker is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against East Forsyth, sneaking past 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since December 21, 2023.

Meanwhile, Jonesboro didn't have too much trouble with Cambridge on Saturday as they won 85-69. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Bears are ranked 145th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tucker pushed their record up to 24-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points over those games. As for Jonesboro, their win bumped their record up to 22-8.

Things could have been worse for Tucker, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 83-66 loss to Jonesboro when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jonesboro's Frank Jackson, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards.
