Basketball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Beloit Trojans

Lyons hasn't had much luck against Beloit recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions will square off against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Lyons has given up an average of 52.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lyons is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Sacred Heart on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Lions had to suffer through a 67-38 loss at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Knights are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, Beloit had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 53-39 win over Southeast of Saline.

Lyons' loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Beloit, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.

Lyons came up short against Beloit in their previous meeting back in January, falling 65-59. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
