Recap: Covenant Life Cougars vs. Mountain View Christian Academy Conquerors
The Covenant Life Cougars had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Mountain View Christian Academy 78-42 on the road. Given Covenant Life's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 32nd in Maryland, while Mountain View Christian Academy is ranked 228th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Covenant Life's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Hughes, who scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Hughes hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Noah Crawford, who scored 25 points along with 3 steals.
Mountain View Christian Academy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Landon Demko, who scored 11 points. Devin Michael was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
The win got Covenant Life back to even at 3-3. As for Mountain View Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Life will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Arlington Baptist at 5:00 p.m. on December 4th. Hopefully Arlington Baptist focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Mountain View Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Wakefield Country Day at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wakefield Country Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday.
