While Henley put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for North Marion. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Huskies. Considering the Hornets have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Corbin Hamilton, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep North Marion off the board. Hamilton has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mark Carpenter was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Henley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2-1 when he doesn't). Conner Shively was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Carpenter wasn't the only one making solid contact: Henley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.
Henley's victory bumped their record up to 5-2-1. As for North Marion, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Coming up, Henley will take on Mazama at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for North Marion, they will challenge Marist at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
