Baseball Recap: Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Takes a Loss

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond was the 12-7 winner over Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Knights fell just short of the Buffaloes by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Knights have suffered since April 15, 2024.

John Williams was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddix Stirrett, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, with the win, they broke their 12-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond will take on Argenta-Oreana at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, they will head out to take on Armstrong at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Buffaloes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
