Baseball Recap: Luther Prep Comes Up Short

Luther Prep had lost nine straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it ten. They fell just short of the Brookfield Academy Blue Knights by a score of 5-3. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Dan Buege was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, Tyler Schwartz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Micah Schultz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Brookfield Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

On Brookfield Academy's side, the team relied heavily on Connor Tracy, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Tracy has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nick Roth, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Luther Prep had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
