Basketball Game Preview: Carroll Tigers vs. Miller Buccaneers

The Carroll Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Miller Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Carroll is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Carroll was dealt a 103-64 loss at the hands of Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 58-35.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Miller's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Flour Bluff. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1017th, while the Hornets are ranked 482nd).

Carroll will need focus on slowing down Izaiah Gidrey, one of several Miller players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 14 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was George Simmons, who put up ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Carroll and nudges their season record down to 12-11. As for Miller, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-8.

Carroll came up short against Miller when the teams last played back in February, falling 72-61. Can Carroll avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
