Baseball Recap: Loudoun County Takes a Loss

Loudoun County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Loudoun Valley Vikings. The Captains were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Josh Cook was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Loudoun County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Shaw, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Loudoun County now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Loudoun Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loudoun County will host John Champe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Loudoun Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Washington at 7:00 p.m. The last three games the Patriots have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
