Baseball Game Preview: Waterford Lancers vs. Suffield Wildcats

The Waterford Lancers will square off against the Suffield Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Waterford 3.3, Suffield 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Waterford is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Joel Barlow 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Meanwhile, Suffield was able to grind out a solid victory over RHAM on Tuesday, taking the game 9-5.

The team relied heavily on Connor Mandirola, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of James Nikolis, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Suffield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Waterford's record now sits at 13-5. As for Suffield, their record is now 10-2.

Waterford came out on top in a nail-biter against Suffield in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
