Basketball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Academy Sharks vs. Cardinal O'Hara Hawks

Sacred Heart Academy is 0-10 against Cardinal O'Hara since February of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Sacred Heart Academy Sharks will square off against the Cardinal O'Hara Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sacred Heart Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 victory over Nardin Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sharks.

Meanwhile, Cardinal O'Hara faced St. Mary's in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Thursday. Cardinal O'Hara walked away with a 76-68 win over St. Mary's. The victory was nothing new for the Hawks as they're now sitting on six straight.

Sacred Heart Academy better keep an eye on Kyla Hayes. She was instrumental in Cardinal O'Hara's win, dropping a double-double with 50 points and 19 boards. Hayes' evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Ny'Ema Blair was another key player, putting up five points along with eight assists and five rebounds.

Cardinal O'Hara pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Sacred Heart Academy, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Sacred Heart Academy ended up a good deal behind Cardinal O'Hara in their previous meeting on February 6th, losing 53-38. Can Sacred Heart Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
