The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Woodbury came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota soccer rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Washburn are ranked 95th).

Woodbury's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2-1. As for Washburn, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4-4.
