Charlotte Andrews (2028) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Marie Bigi (2025) was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Sirko (2025), who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sewickley Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, South Side fell victim to Union Area and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 15-0 to the Scotties. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Scotties: they've now lost eight in a row.
Sewickley Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for South Side, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Sewickley Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like South Side struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Sewickley Academy skirted past South Side 12-11 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will Sewickley Academy repeat their success, or does South Side has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
