Shelbyville had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 53-40 win over the Troup Tigers on Friday.
Troup lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bryce Wallum, who threw for 210 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Another back making a difference was Brett Wells, who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Shelbyville will host New Boston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Troup, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Edgewood on Friday.
