Basketball Recap: Elijah Mobley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Springdale Prep over Fairfax Christian

Springdale Prep easily dispatched Prince George's Christian Academy Blue last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Springdale Prep Lions fell just short of the Fairfax Christian Cardinals by a score of 64-62 on Monday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Springdale Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Elijah Mobley, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Mobley is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. Bolis Thet was another key player, going 6 for 14 en route to 13 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Springdale Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairfax Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trey Fitch, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Fitch has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Siaca Bey, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards.

Springdale Prep's loss dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Fairfax Christian, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-10.

Springdale Prep has already played their next match, a 74-37 win against Virginia Academy on the 4th. As for Fairfax Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-44 victory against Virginia Episcopal School on the 4th.
