Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Eagles vs. Oak Hill Oaks

The Eastern Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Oak Hill Oaks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Eastern turned things around against Symmes Valley on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 61-49.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Hill). They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 60-9 win over Western. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Oaks with their most commanding win of the season.

Oak Hill's win came from a few key players that Eastern will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Olivia McKenzie, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 15 points and four steals. Those four steals gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stella Lester, who posted six points in addition to 12 boards and five steals.

Oak Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.

Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Oak Hill, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-12.

Everything came up roses for Eastern against Oak Hill in their previous meeting back in December of 2025, as the team secured a 58-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
