Monte Vista has gone 6-1 against Kearny recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Monarchs will head out to square off against the Komets at 4:00 p.m. Monte Vista is looking for their season's first win.

Monte Vista lost 20-9 to El Cajon Valley two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kearny). They won by a run and slipped past La Jolla 22-21. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Komets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Monte Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Kearny, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.

Monte Vista took their victory against Kearny in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Monarchs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
