Basketball Recap: Sunday's Loss Ends Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue's Winning Streak

Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue is ranked highly in their home state and on Sunday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Legion Collegiate Academy. The Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue Warriors fell to the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers 58-53. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

LaKiara Alexander was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine boards for Legion Collegiate Academy. Alexander's morning made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Amelia Williams was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tournament Opponent on January 18th. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they will challenge Mountain View Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Legion Collegiate Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matches.
