Softball Game Preview: Craigmont Chiefs vs. Munford Cougars

The Craigmont Chiefs will head out on the road to challenge the Munford Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Craigmont is looking for their season's first win.

Craigmont fell victim to Covington and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Chargers, falling 20-0.

Meanwhile, while Munford put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Briarcrest Christian. The Cougars didn't even let the Saints on the board, marking the Cougars' second-straight 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooke Levine looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Munford got a massive performance out of Gracie Williams, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ellie Kate Billings, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Munford and bumps their season record up to 14-11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Craigmont, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
