Basketball Recap: George Walton Academy Starts Season with Win on the Road + How To Watch

George Walton Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with an 82-73 victory over the Banks County Leopards on Friday. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 66-58 loss the last time these two teams met.

George Walton Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tiedrell Ansley out in front who shot 43% from the field on his way to 27 points. Those 27 points gave Ansley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Wells, who went 8-for-11 en route to 19 points and eight boards.

George Walton Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Banks County only racked up seven.

Banks County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Macade Huff, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Huff's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Caden Watson, who posted 18 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Banks County fell to 4-1.

George Walton Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-54 victory against First Presbyterian Day on the 24th. As for Banks County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 72-67 loss against East Jackson on the 24th.
