Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Chowchilla

Chowchilla had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Everything went their way against the Yosemite Badgers as they made off with a 20-1 win. The game marked the Tribe's most dominant victory of the season.

Lexyss Sabin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Rylee Vlot was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Purcell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Chowchilla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Chowchilla's record is now 15-9. As for Yosemite, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Coincidentally, Chowchilla and Yosemite will both be playing Riverdale the next time they take the field. The Badgers will head out to face the Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Tribe will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
