2A District 8 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Commerce extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 8 this week by beating Colcord, 28-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Tigers.
Wyandotte took down Ketchum 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Quapaw's Seth Brumley and Tyler Bacon have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Brumley has thrown for 1797 yards this season, while Bacon, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 63 catches for 1140 yards. Commerce's Parker Morgan leads the league in rushing yards with 1197.
Steve Moss' team's DC Chance needs only 47 yards against the Wildcats next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 113 carries Chance has accumulated 953 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Bears take on the Hornets. At the moment, Wyandotte is in third, while Colcord is in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when the Tigers and Quapaw face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Commerce comes in having scored 326 this season, while Brad Homer's team has scored 170. The Tigers scored 28 points last week as they topped Terrill Denny's team.
Salina led 2A District 8 in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on the Wildcats.
