Softball Recap: Weslaco East Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Weslaco East walked away with it. They never let the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Not much got past Aubrey Zuniga, who gave up just four hits to keep Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alanah Bautista, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelica Herrera, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Weslaco East's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 23-7 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Weslaco East beat the Raiders by a score of 4-3 on Friday.
