Basketball Recap: Campion Academy Extends Winning Streak to Four

Campion Academy entered their tilt with Denver Jewish Day on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 48-38 victory over the Denver Jewish Day Tigers.

Campion Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Victoria Matthews led the charge by putting up 16 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Matthews has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. Damaris Lopez was another key player, scoring 15 points and three steals.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaitlin Schatz, who posted 11 points along with six boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Bayla Milobsky, who had nine points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Campion Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Denver Jewish Day, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Campion Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Front Range Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denver Jewish Day, they will face off against Denver Waldorf at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver Waldorf has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
