Recap: Cranston West Falcons vs. Mt. Pleasant Kilties
On Friday, The Cranston West Falcons faced the Mt. Pleasant Kilties in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cranston West took a serious blow against Mt. Pleasant, falling 46-12. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Cranston West struggled afterwards.
Although Cranston West took the loss, they still got scores from Kelan Cornell and Anthony Salas.
Leading Mt. Pleasant to victory were Adonai Lopez and Benji Soe. Lopez threw for 133 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes, while Soe rushed for 162 yards on only 11 carries. Soe's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards.
Cranston West are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Mt. Pleasant, Cumberland, and Bishop Hendricken. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cranston West will take on East Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Greenwich is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Cumberland at 2:30 p.m. Cumberland is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
