Buena had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks 63-60. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Colts also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

Ironwood Ridge's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lucas Anderson, who posted 28 points, and Emilio Valle, who earned 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Derek Overton, who put up five points.

Looking ahead, Buena will welcome Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ironwood Ridge, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Pueblo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
