Uwharrie Charter Academy proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the North Stanly Comets 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 25, 2024.

Kenzie Duty spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Uwharrie Charter Academy's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Katelyn West was another, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Uwharrie Charter Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for North Stanly, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
