Basketball Recap: Midland Valley Comes Up Short

Midland Valley lost against Josey back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Midland Valley Mustangs were dealt a 68-36 loss at the hands of the Josey Eagles. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-13.

Despite the defeat, Midland Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Trenity Madison posted 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Madison.

Josey's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kerri Fluellen, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 11 points in addition to eight boards and eight steals. Fluellen has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 42 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Keasia Henderson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 assists.

Midland Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Josey, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Midland Valley has already played their next match, a 51-43 loss against Airport on the 7th. As for Josey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-52 victory against Butler on the 7th.
