Baseball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 7-2 to the Johnson Central Golden Eagles. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Monticello saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Jackson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Colin Jumper also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Johnson Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Monticello will take on Rowan County at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Johnson Central, they will face off against Butler at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
