Soccer Game Preview: Spalding vs. Whitewater

Spalding hasn't had much luck against Whitewater recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Spalding challenge Whitewater at 6:00 p.m. Spalding has given up an average of 3.4 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Spalding is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Eastside, falling 7-0. That's two games in a row now that Spalding have lost by exactly seven goals.

Meanwhile, Whitewater waltzed into their game on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. Whitewater's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matches.

Kate Mitchell and Samira Eldawi scored both of Whitewater's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Whitewater's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Spalding, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Spalding might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Whitewater when the teams last played back in March of 2020. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
