Basketball Recap: Mumford Takes a Loss

Mumford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 72-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the International Academy Phoenix. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 527th, while the Phoenix are ranked 162nd).

Mumford's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for International Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Mumford won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Mumford likes a good challenge. As for International Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Atherton at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
