Baseball Game Preview: Centralia Orphans vs. Odin/Patoka/Sandoval Eagles

Centralia is a perfect 3-0 against Odin/Patoka/Sandoval since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Orphans will welcome the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Centralia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

If Centralia beats Odin/Patoka/Sandoval with three runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Orphans skirted past Mt. Carmel 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Orphans have posted since April 8th.

Nolan Pryor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has become a key player for Centralia: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Rhett Lambert was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Odin/Patoka/Sandoval fell just short of Brownstown/St. Elmo by a score of 6-5.

Austin Hoffman was cooking despite his team's loss, earning one RBI, three runs, and two stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Drew Haines was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Centralia and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Odin/Patoka/Sandoval, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Centralia took their win against Odin/Patoka/Sandoval when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-6 score. Do the Orphans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
