Basketball Recap: Moffat Comes Up Short

Moffat lost against Centennial back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Moffat Cowboys took a blow against the Centennial Rams, falling 63-23. The Cowboys were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-11.

Despite the loss, Moffat had strong showings from Kandra Pollard, who posted 11 points and five steals, and Shauna Pollard, who earned nine points and three steals. Kandra is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centennial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anai Medina, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Medina has scored at least a third of Centennial's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Moffat and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Centennial, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5.

Moffat didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-19 defeat against Creede on the 25th. Centennial has also already played their next game, a 35-16 win against Sangre de Cristo on the 25th.
