Baseball Game Preview: Buchanan Bears vs. Oakmont Vikings

Buchanan has won four straight games at home, while Oakmont has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. Buchanan will welcome Oakmont at 1:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Buchanan put up the most points they have all season on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Liberty with a sharp 13-6 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bears have posted against the Patriots since February 23, 2022.

Meanwhile, Oakmont earned an 11-8 win over Clovis on Friday.

Jaylan Patterson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cooper Kunis was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayne Ball, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Oakmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in five consecutive games.

Buchanan's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Oakmont, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

Everything went Buchanan's way against Oakmont in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Buchanan made off with a 7-0 victory. Will Buchanan repeat their success, or does Oakmont has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
