Softball Recap: Mohave Takes a Loss

Mohave started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Coconino. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-7 on Monday.

Rilynn Bragg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Mohave saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jahnezz Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Mohave has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Coconino, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.

Coincidentally, Mohave and Coconino will both be playing Mingus the next time they take the field. The Thunderbirds will head out to face the Marauders at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
