Softball Recap: Prairie du Chien Gets the Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Prairie du Chien nor Richland Center made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Blackhawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hornets 2-1. The Blackhawks haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Claire Kennedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Irelynd Cejka, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Prairie du Chien's record now sits at 8-2. As for Richland Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie du Chien will head out to challenge Fennimore at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Richland Center, they will venture away from home to face off against Dodgeville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
