Basketball Preview: Colby Eagles vs. Hugoton Eagles
Colby is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Eagles a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Colby Eagles will take on the Hugoton Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Colby was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 37-33 to the Bluejays.
Meanwhile, Hugoton's 19-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. Their rough 51-25 loss to Holcomb on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Hugoton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Longhorns are ranked 44th).
Colby has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Hugoton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9-1.
