Softball Recap: Palatka Victorious

Palatka picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Largo Packers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Skylar Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cali Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Palatka hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Largo struck out seven times.

Palatka's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Largo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.

Palatka will welcome Ponte Vedra at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sharks' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Largo, they will head out to challenge Calvary Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Packers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
