It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Central Golden Eagles can now relate to. They and Xaverian Brothers were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Central suffered an agonizing 21-20 loss. Central's loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Xaverian Brothers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Henry Hasselbeck, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 61 yards and a touchdown. Denzil Pierre and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Xaverian Brothers' victory.
Central's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Xaverian Brothers, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Xaverian Brothers will be playing at home against Needham at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Needham is ranked sixth, while Xaverian Brothers is ranked third).
