Softball Recap: Grafton Starts Season with Win Against East Fairmont

Grafton took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They put the hurt on the East Fairmont Bees with a sharp 12-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Bees: they've now won four in a row.

Lillie Crimm made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chelsea Mauller, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Italy Schommer-Klebe was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Grafton will take on Parkersburg South at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for East Fairmont, they will venture away from home to square off against Buckhannon-Upshur at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
