Softball Recap: Sundown's Winning Streak Snapped at 11 Games

Sundown dropped their record down to 22-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins. They lost 9-2 to the Midland Christian Mustangs. The Roughnecks were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the 11 matchups prior), but the Mustangs' pitchers proved too tough.

Brynly Gregory was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Midland Christian, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-4-1. Considering they have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Midland Christian's side, Maddy Munoz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. Munoz has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Midland Christian got a massive performance out of Annie Munoz, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Kyler Graham was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, Sundown will square off against Ralls at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jackrabbits have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.36 runs per game on average), something the Roughnecks will no doubt try to take advantage of. Midland Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
