Basketball Game Preview: Sunnyslope Vikings vs. Millennium Tigers

The Sunnyslope Vikings will square off against the Millennium Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Sunnyslope is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Xavier College Prep, who was ranked 19th at the time (Sunnyslope was ranked 17th). Sunnyslope fell to Xavier College Prep 47-42. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Gators: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Millennium's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 65-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Salpointe Catholic. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lancers 24-14 in the first quarter.

Sunnyslope's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Millennium, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Sunnyslope was able to grind out a solid victory over Millennium in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 63-56. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Millennium's Elli Guiney, who went 8 for 16 en route to 24 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
