Volleyball Recap: Menlo-Atherton Snaps 12-Game Streak of Wins at Home + How To Watch

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Menlo-Atherton couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 3-1 to the Cardinal Newman Cardinals on Tuesday. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2018.

Menlo-Atherton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-15.

Kayla Greenbaum paced Menlo-Atherton's offense, picking up 13 kills. Greenbaum got some help from Calista Chou and her 22 assists. Greenbaum was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Menlo-Atherton's defeat ended a 12-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 24-11. As for Cardinal Newman, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-11.

Menlo-Atherton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cardinal Newman, they will venture away from home to face off against St. Francis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
